We’re taking a stand for our employees, their families and the future of Colorado.
- Founded in 1958, the innovative firm has grown as the result of client loyalty
- TCO leads the land management industry in technology-driven land services to increase efficiency, productivity and deliver a higher quality product
DENVER, CO (October 25, 2018) – TCO Land Services, the leader in technology-driven land services, today celebrates six decades of helping clients achieve their land management objectives. The company has held several events during 2018 to thank clients, current and former employees and partners for helping achieve this long and successful track record.
Wendell (Dude) Haley founded Transcontinent Oil, now TCO Land Services, in 1958, and built the business on honesty, hard work, determination and attention to detail. He built a team and reputation for delivering exceptional land services over decades, making TCO one of the industry’s oldest and most respected land services companies.
Building on the foundation Haley established, TCO has grown over the past 60 years as the result of the company’s unwavering commitment to client service, efficiency and its ability to provide expert counsel on land management matters. These attributes have earned the trust and loyalty of clients. TCO’s begins with hiring of the best talent possible and giving them the right training, tools and technology to get the job done so they can deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
“It is a little humbling to think of how long TCO has been in business,” said Glenn Land, Executive Vice President of Land and Senior Partner. “Over the past sixty years, we have grown from a one-person land services company focused solely on the Rocky Mountains to having a deep bench of multi-disciplinary talent and expertise in nearly every active oil and gas region in the United States. Driving our growth and longevity are our core values and our ethic of continuous improvement and innovation. We have seen many cycles in the oil and gas business, and TCO has delivered consistently for clients in up and down markets.”
Importantly, TCO has led the technology revolution in delivering land services to clients with the development of its TACT/Title Tree cloud-based solution. Pam Cortese, Executive Vice President of Operations and Senior Partner said, “TACT and Title Tree represent the most efficient and transparent way to perform land services work, nationwide. We have invested a significant amount of capital into this technology-based solution, which is at the core of our client service delivery. This proprietary technology makes TCO efficient, reduces project durations and ultimately provides our clients with the most consistent, high-quality work product available in the market.”
In recent years, TCO has expanded its land services to other industries, including alternative energy. As solar and wind farms seek to expand, they inevitably run into land management issues, including the securing of surface rights, working with mineral rights owners and other factors.
Land concluded, “It has been a real privilege to be part of TCO Land Services and build on our legacy of growth and innovation, which has made the company something of an institution in the industry. Our past success was the result of hard work, a deep understanding of land management issues and building our company around the concept of the Land Service Lifecycle. We expect continued growth as more companies learn about the benefits of our technology-driven solutions and the ability to apply our expertise to new markets. There has never been a better time to be on the TCO team.”

On June 29th Freedom Service Dogs held their annual Faces of Freedom event at Kiowa Creek Sporting Club. The annual event helps raise much needed funds for Freedom Service Dogs, an incredible organization that tailor trains rescue dogs for veterans and other adults in need. TCO was honored to be apart of the event that raised over $170,000 through a clay shoot and live auction. Land departments frequently work within the same projects or geographic areas simultaneously. However, in today’s fast-paced work environment that is often limited in resources and personnel, many land departments are so focused on the immediate tasks at hand that they often miss the opportunity to leverage synergies across the entire LSL. The result is a significant duplication of effort that leads to longer project durations, higher costs and potentially compromising business objectives.
Dude Haley started TCO in 1958 and we are excited to celebrate our 60th anniversary this year. Throughout the years we’ve continued Dude’s legacy of dedication to clients, ethical land practices and commitment to our employees. To commemorate this incredible milestone we threw a party to honor our clients and alumni that have helped us make TCO Denver’s longest standing land service company. The party, which was held at Mile High Spirits, was a huge success and we loved having everyone out to join us. Here’s to another 60 years!
Transcontinent Oil Company (TCO) was proud to attend the week long Permian Basin Land Association (PBLA) festivities in Midland, TX, in mid-April, 2018. Thank you to the PBLA and all the sponsors for making it a wonderful week of networking and seminars.
TCO was honored to participate in the charity golf event and to volunteer at various stations to help raise additional funds for the PBLA Scholarship.

By utilizing our proprietary software TACT | TITLE TREE, we’ve become masters in efficiency. Our motto is “only do a task once”. Whether it’s downloading and briefing a document, securing curative, compiling notification lists, creating a chain of title or running a report, we don’t believe in repetitive and inefficient tasks. Once a project is completed in TACT | TITLE TREE it begins to form the foundation that future projects are built upon.
When our clients use TCO they realize the benefits that TACT | TITLE TREE offers, including:
- One convenient location that stores, memorializes, and backs up your land and division order workflow
- Complete visibility between your land and division order teams
- Cloud based flexibility that supports remote work that contributes to a reduction in field costs
- Instantly generated Ownership Reports and Notification Lists that considerably reduce billable time
- Common Document Recognition and Common Curative Recognition eliminates the need to address a document more than once, as well as the need to cure a requirement when it is common in multiple title opinions. Both functions contribute to time and resource savings
- Take advantage of our competitive advantage. No costs for the use of TACT | TITLE TREE for our clients.

Christmas is right around the corner and we’re looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with our loved ones. With the industry gaining steam again this year was one of our busiest and most successful in the recent past . This year we worked with the Tennyson Center for Children to give back to a family in need with Operation Santa. We were paired with a combined family of eight that has been through a really rough year. We purchased gifts for the family to help make this Christmas a little brighter for then. The Tennyson Center for Children does amazing work to help children who have experienced severe abuse, neglect, and/or trauma so they can bravely, and safely, change their life’s story. We are grateful to be able to partner with such an incredible organization. If you’re interested in donating or taking part in Operation Santa next year please click here.
TCO Land Services has been serving the oil and gas industry for 60 years, and since our founding in 1958, we have seen the Oil and Gas industry evolve tremendously. The business has moved from conventional to resource plays, from vertical to horizontal drilling and from low-tech services to high-tech computer controlled drilling and completions. Although our industry produces the same commodities it did six decades ago, technology has made today’s operations more efficient and productive than ever before.
TCO is leading the technological evolution in land services with our TACT | TITLE TREE technology-based solution. We invested in this platform to drive operational efficiency, productivity and improve workflow management to create better outcomes for our clients. TACT | TITLE TREE has revolutionized and dramatically improved the way we deliver on everyday land services, like abstracting, running title and report generation.
An issue we often see in land, is companies paying for the same information over and over. TACT | TITLE TREE allows us to create a superiorly organized document library for our clients. The result is increased efficiency for the life of your project including cursory, title and abstracts, as well as any future projects. Common Document Recognition is an example of this efficiency in action. The redundancy and cost associated with pulling the same document multiple times is eliminated. With TACT | TITLE TREE, TCO professionals pull and brief a document once. That document then carries throughout the rest of the project with no additional typing required.
Also, because TACT | TITLE TREE electronically archives and memorializes essential recorded documents, they can be easily found again for your current and future projects. The more you use TCO, the more you benefit.
Our proprietary technology can generate significant improvements in project efficiency and productivity. Our clients appreciate our high quality and standardized product that we deliver. All of the functions that we have built into our system can contribute to a reduction in the number of man-hours associated with land services.
